| 2002 World Cup official Mascots Unveiled
Tentatively named Atmo, the official mascots of the world cup of the
new millenium were unveiled both in Korea and Japan on December 1,1999
unlike privious mascots, which were usually personifications of animals
or plants, Atmo's character was outlined in a 3-dimentional computer-
animated film which described the birth and adventures of three Atmos.
these interesting creatures have been dispatched from the virtual space
kingdom Atmozone to promote excitement and highlight the constructive
dynamic between soccer fans and players-that is , they serve as a kind
of mood enhancer.their name comes from the world "atmosphere".Throughout the computer-animated film in which three "Atmo" take many twist and turns along the way to the 2002 World Cup korea/Japan,there are facinating myths and legends about the two culturally-rich Asian host countries. The official mascots are a symbol of international cooperation and harmony, representing the two host countries'cultures, FIFA'values and the excitement of the world cup, The individual names of the three "Atmo" characters will be decided through an international contest within a year. |
